Our Forebearers

El Dorado Peace and Justice Community

• We may think that we are "just now getting organized." However, it is good to remember those who came before and gave dearly of their time, energy, and even lives to ensure the freedoms and equity we cherish today. Throughout recorded history, Earth has again and again witnessed brutal class and resource conflicts, with some of the greatest suffering bourne by women, children, and the elderly.

•Unfortunately, the Year 2006 is no different -- the Plutocracy is expanding its authority, widening its almost world-wide base of support, and in the process is continuing to flex and feed the military-industrial-corporate complex. This military might is frequently invoked in the name of protection of home and hearth and with its latest twist, in stopping terrorism -- all the while undermining the principles and ideals of our great country.

Joe Hill: This online story of Joe Hill, created by PBS, explores the history of the nation as it struggled with issues of justice, opportunity, and the American Dream. (Sound familiar?)
