The purpose of the El Dorado Peace and Justice Community shall be to promote lasting world peace through nonviolent actions to create and sustain social, economic and environmental justice.

Community News Updates

Weekly, since December 31st, 2002 El Dorado Peace and Justice has been demonstrating on Hwy 50 and Spring St. Responses were diverse. Overall, it was a worthwhile endeavor. We are a strong, continued presence for Peace in El Dorado County. Stay tuned for a future action to replace the hwy. demonstrations.

Participation in Peace events in the past 12 months includes: chartered buses for 5 anti-war marches in San Francisco; peace vigils at the El Dorado County Courthouse on the last Monday of the month at 6 p.m.; joined Sacramento Regional planning for Converge on the Capitol; March 20th day after the attack on Iraq, joined the world-wide candlelight vigil and march; sponsorship and co-sponsorship of talks and films on Afghanistan, Iraq, Middle-East Issues, Central America; educational tabling; Earth Day Festival; “die-ins”; sponsored a non-violence training, attended workshops; distributed $3800 from Empty Bowls Fundraiser Dinner to SHARE and relief for Afghanistan; sent $700 for art supplies to the Kabul Fine Arts school after Glenda Marsh’s slide presentation; visited offices of Congressman Doolittle and Representative Oller, voicing our opposition to the Iraq war resolution.
We are in the process of applying for non-profit status. Our goal is to become a viable sustainable organization with a Peace Center with Lending Library, Peace Garden, and a Fair Trade Store. We would have a meeting location, offer non-violencetraining, conflict resolution, education on issues of social justice, and culture. The organization must exist beyond protesting wars. To further this goal, we need your energy and support. Do you know of anyone who would be willing to exchange rent of a building (it could be for a limited time period) for a tax write-off
